Evans, Pires & Leonard
The start of Evans, Pires & Leonard occurred when Michael W. Evans established the initial agency in 1967. After six years of insurance carrier and agency experience, training in all areas of insurance, particularly in underwriting, loss control, audit and claims. The volume grew steadily over the next years, and in 1972, Evans purchased the Fred C. Leonard Agency in downtown Hartford, CT. The experience of acquiring this agency became a key element in the expansion of the agency in future transactions. The increased volume brought new employees with it to the agency.
In 1975 the agency moved to a new high rise office building on the river in East Hartford and began to implement the ideas for expansion. of personal & commercial lines with a substantial growth over the next ten (10) years. The new office suite contained four times the space than the high rise and provided many private offices to bring in producers in other areas of insurance such as financial planning, investment counseling, group medical and additional casualty & property producers. By 1991, the agency volume had more than doubled and grown into a new computer system and telephone system.
During the design of the advertising program, the agency adopted the key words that are used in all of our direct mail and advertising of Coverage, Price and Service. All members of the agency observe and take to heart these three words, (1) to first analyze and provide the right coverages, (2) gather enough information to be able to provide a competitive price to obtain the business and (3) service the account to such an extent that very seldom was a client lost.
During the next few years, other family members began coming into the agency as they graduated from college. Marjorie replaced Evans' wife, Mary Ellen, who had been assisting him since the original agency was formed in 1967. Marjorie was followed by Michael, Jr., Timothy and Kevin. The agency will continue to grow for many decades .
The representation of highly rated insurance carriers combined with the high service quotient provided by the agency offers the client a true definition of the words Coverage, Price & Service. The three person partnership of the client, agency and carrier creates a solid bond which in many cases go on for decades. We would be pleased to supply references upon request.
